COUNTY INFORMATION

Ripley county was organized January 5, 1833, from Wayne County and is named for Eleazer W. Ripley, a soldier of the War of 1812. The County Seat is located at Doniphan, Missouri, and is divided up into the following political townships: Pine, Kelley, Jordan, Johnson, Sherley, Doniphan, Flatwoods, Washington, West Doniphan, Varner, Gatewood, Union, Poynor, Harris and Thomas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record and maintain Real Estate documents
  • Issue and maintain Marriage Licenses
  • File and maintain State and Federal Tax Liens
  • File and maintain Military Discharge documents

POLICIES

  • It is office policy not to accept blanket documents.
  • No pictures or scanning of documents by phone or any other means will be allowed, unless the page cannot be copied from book.
  • With all recordings, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.
  • Effective July 1, 2001, all Uniform Commercial Code filings are done through the Secretary of State.
  • Tax Liens: Recorder’s Office does not do searches.
  • Birth and Death records: Birth and death records are kept by the State of Missouri, not on the county level. Visit the Missouri Secretary of State for birth and death records.
  • Documents received after 3:30 p.m. will be recorded on the next business day.
